The diarrhea causes malnutrition because mothers suspending food for several days, even after it had ceased, not adapting the feedback.
In the malnourished diarrhea is more often, so it is important to feed children as they become ready to eat a balanced diet.

Consideration about the misuse of drugs:

It should be clear that in case of diarrhea DO NOT self-medicate with any antidiarrhoeal or antispasmodic, or antisecretory. The antibiotics the doctor indicating the well-defined situations.

The antispasmodic non-beneficial and can cause side effects such as decreased bowel peristalsis. Not decrease the secretion or promote intestinal absorption, confusing the clinical picture and interfering in the actual calculation of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) should be administered.

Antisecretory drugs have shown significant side effects. They can cause sedation, preventing the patient drink the oral rehydration solution.

The absorbent can increase stool consistency, but its weight and water content is not affected, (which leads to a misleading feature of the losses).

Use homemade solutions for replacing liquid:

Facing the situation to avoid dehydration and to have both oral rehydration salts (ORS) can be used “home solutions.”

Three examples of these are:

* Water boiled rice, commonly used in many homes, with the addition of 3% sugar and a pinch of salt, liquid absorption is facilitated thanks to the starch which has rice.
* The carrot soup, which contains potassium, with the addition of 3% sugar and a pinch of salt, can also help hydration.
