The damage caused by diabetes to blood vessels could be reversed by eating broccoli, according to a study published in the journal Diabetes. Researchers at the University of Warwick, assume that one of the active ingredients of the crucifer, sulforaphane, which would act to benefit blood vessels.

If so could produce protective enzymes to treat those conditions, which involve considerable damage to cells.

Patients with diabetes have one to five times more to develop cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes, they have to do with damage to blood vessels.

The tests evaluated the effects of administration of sulforaphane, cells damaged by high levels of glucose in the blood, known as hyperglycemia affects diabetics.

Another effect observed by sulforaphane, was the activation of nrf2 protein in the body, which protects cells and tissues from damage by activating antioxidant and detoxifying enzymes.

Sulforaphane is found not only in this crucifer, broccoli, but also the entire family, cabbage, kale, mustard greens, cauliflower, among others.
