What are teeth?
Teeth are hard calcified tissue organs located inside the mouth. It is the hardest tissue in the body.
How the teeth are formed?
They consist of two parts:
a) Crown is the part that looks white.
b) Root or root, which is the part that is inside the bone.
The crown consists of:
- The enamel. It is the white part that covers the crown. Composed especially calcium salts .
- Dentin. That’s the part under the enamel on the crown and cementum on the root. Tissue is softer than enamel and yellow.
- The nerve or pulp. It’s the soft stuff that is inside the tooth, a cavity formed by the dentine. Tissue is responsible for nurturing and defending the tooth, it has blood vessels. It also has nerves that react to any painful stimulus.
