In the previous article : The Williams Syndrome : Medical Advices part 1, we have known some Williams Syndrome medical advices in attention about the blood pressure, calcium in the blood, examination in urine, and physical examination. On this next article we are going to concentrate in kidneys, dental, visual and audio.

- Ultrasound of the kidneys:

Calcium and Drink

Verbal and Motor Skills

Slow Speech and Language Development
The development of language and speech remains behind. The first words are often after the second year. It is important to contact the child actively promote. Since a few months after birth can help a (preverbal) speech therapist this useful.

Slow Development Locomotion
The development of motor skills is slower than with peers, especially the coordination is a weak point. A physiotherapist with experience in the treatment of young children can give advice on how motor development of children can be encouraged.

The Noise and Narrowing of heart-lung or kidney Barrels

Sensitive to Noise
Many children with Williams syndrome are very sensitive to noise. Certain sounds can be painful and extremely frightening to the child. Often protects the child’s ears off for specific sounds. Narrowing of heart-lung or kidney Barrels
Many children with Williams syndrome have a narrowing of heart vessels, pulmonary vascular and / or renal vessels. Many children have a typical facial expression. This is caused by: a little bit upright nose, wide mouth with full lips slightly open, small chin, free chubby cheeks, eyelids heavy, mostly low implanted ears, small teeth. Some children have a star-shaped pattern in the iris and many children have curly hair.

Fusion radius AND ulna
Approximately 10% of children with Williams is born with radio-ulnar synostose. These are the two bones in the forearm, ulna and radius, which fused with the rotation of the forearm is very limited.

Friendly Nature

Children with this Williams syndrome typically have a friendly nature. Their strength lies in the social field. Their language is usually good after a slow start. They are interested in the people around them and usually friendly and welcoming to their surroundings. They (sometimes) little reserve to strangers and they are usually more interested in contact with adults than with peers.

Mental Retardation

Most children with The Williams Syndrome have mental retardation. In young children this is a disadvantage on motor development in the field. They reach a little later than usual milestones such as walking, talking and be clean. Especially when the school is often combined with weak concentration of activity, a problem. In the field of language and speech, long-term memory and social skills of children performing well. Many children experience fun listening to and working with music. The children have a good sense of rhythm and tone and they are all fast songs. In other areas such as fine motor skills, coordination of movements and spatial understanding their performance is weaker.

Medical opinions are also covered by legal aid?
